Internships are supervised, time-limited professional work experiences, focused on offering meaningful and practical work related to the student’s career interests and/or field of study. They can be full- or part-time, paid or unpaid. Many internships are eligible for credit(s) at Edmonds College.

There are many benefits to completing a successful internship. A few of the top benefits include:

  • Thorough hands-on experience bridging classroom learning and work experience
  • Gain practical skills, knowledge and confidence in your field
  • Make informed career choices
  • Grow business contacts and professional network
  • Make you more competitive in the job market and/or lead directly to employment
  • Develop your own learning objectives, earn college credit and meet program requirements

There are many benefits to hiring a student eager to learn more about your business and the industry. Offering internships creates opportunities to:

  • Develop committed and relevant talent through project based work
  • Build a cost effective recruitment strategy for future employees
  • Bring new ideas and perspectives into the workplace

An internship fair offers the opportunity to meet multiple employers with available internship openings. Meet face-to-face to discuss various companies and roles, and discuss with employers how you might fit into their organization.

Research the employers listed above, and decide which companies you would like to explore opportunities with. Create a current resume to share with employers, and dress professionally to make the best first impression.

If you need help creating or updating your resume, visit the Career Action Center Resource Room in Mountlake Terrace Hall 138 or contact Ronee Burchinal at ronee.burchinal@edmonds.edu. We will gladly help!

One great way to start a conversation is to introduce yourself and deliver an elevator pitch. For some tips on how to create a compelling pitch, read about 30-second introductions.

You can also approach an employer to ask questions about their business and the opportunities they have available. Prepare a list of questions ahead of time to keep from getting stuck.

If you are interested in attending the Internship Fair as you hunt for your next top talent, please register online. If you have questions about the fair or registration, please contact Ronee Burchinal at ronee.burchinal@edmonds.edu.
