New opportunities in Construction Industry Training at Edmonds College

Start a Construction Industry Training (CIT) Certificate fall quarter, Sept. 20-Dec. 9, at Edmonds College. Learn green building, blueprint reading, measuring, construction safety, foundation layout, and power and hand tool techniques. Evening classes available.

Start with Core Construction Skills I and II, CIT 103 and 104 offered 5:30-9 p.m., Monday and Wednesday this fall. The program also offers a new green roofing class, Construction Industry Training 155. Students will learn about membrane roofs, flashing details, drainage and other aspects of roofing related to providing a proper basis for a green roof. The class meets 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m., on two Fridays, Nov. 5 and 12. The last day to register is Nov. 5.

New opportunities for students interested in construction training:

•Sound Energy Efficiency Development (SEED) grant* — This grant will pay tuition, books, and fees for students to earn short certificates in Energy Management at Edmonds College. For those interested in construction and hands-on work, the Energy Efficiency Technician certificate provides foundational energy knowledge to those involved in the contract work or energy efficiency and weatherization projects. •A new Construction Safety Certificate offered through the Occupational Safety and Health program can be completed in a year or less. It offers practical knowledge for construction site leads, project managers, and business owners and adds skills for those interested in construction management and occupational safety and health fields. •Earn a bachelor’s degree at Central Washington University-Lynnwood on the Edmonds College campus. Students who complete Edmonds College’s Construction Industry Training certificate have the option to continue training in the college’s Construction Management program. A new two-year Associate in Applied Science-T (transfer) degree in Construction Management now transfers to Central Washington University's Bachelors of Applied Science in Administrative Management program.
