Edmonds College will offer classes in its newly renovated Meadowdale Hall this fall
Originally constructed in 1978, Meadowdale may now be the college’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified building. The renovation included green building techniques such as: making use of natural lighting, recycling and buying local materials where possible, using less toxic building materials and processes, and including an energy monitoring system.
The college will apply for LEED green building certification for Meadowdale Hall at the Gold Level. The 27,000 square-foot building houses the college’s construction management, engineering, energy management, and visual arts (art, photography, and visual communications) programs.

What’s new this fall at Edmonds College?
Sound Energy Efficiency Development (SEED) grant — This grant will pay tuition, books, and fees for students to earn short certificates in Energy Management at Edmonds College. Roofing for Green Roofs, Construction Industry Training 155 — A new class teaches students to navigate green building choices and examines rating systems such as LEED and Built Green. Manufacturing Basics and quality assurance — A new class, Manufacturing Basics, Materials Science Technology 110, is a key launch point for anyone interested in manufacturing. It can be taken on its own or as part of a two-year Manufacturing and Materials Technology degree. New quality assurance classes will be offered later this year: Take Introduction to Metrology, Materials Science Technology 120, in winter, and Quality Assurance Tools, Materials Science Technology 130, this spring. Construction Safety certificate — This new certificate can be completed in a year or less. It offers practical knowledge for construction site leads, project managers, and business owners and adds skills for those interested in construction management and occupational safety and health fields. Art, photography, and visual communications studios — The new well-lit studios in Meadowdale Hall provide an inspirational environment for student artists. See their creativity on display in the college art gallery this fall. An exhibit of works by Edmonds College visual arts students opens November 1 in the art gallery on the third floor of Lynnwood Hall. Construction Management degree transfers to CWU-Lynnwood — Now with a new Associate in Applied Science-T (transfer) degree in Construction Management, students can transfer to Central Washington University's Bachelors of Applied Science in Administrative Management program and complete a bachelor’s degree at CWU-Lynnwood on the Edmonds College campus. Civic engagement shows — As part of its visual communications program, Edmonds College contributes programming to Verizon channel 38, Comcast channels 21 (South Snohomish County) and 26 (Edmonds).
