Community supports student success at Foundation auction

The Edmonds College Foundation auction in March raised more than $175,000 in support
of access, success, and excellence for students, faculty, and staff at the college.
During the 2009-10 school year, the Foundation awarded $188,480 in scholarships and
emergency funds and contributed $52,000 in direct support to college programs.
“In spite of challenging economic times, our guests and donors raised their paddles in an evening of support for the growing number of students that are enrolling at Edmonds College,” said Kathy Coffey, the Foundation’s Assistant Director of Development. “Our community values the hard work and dedication demonstrated at this college by individuals who are striving to improve life for themselves and their families.”
More than 195 people attended the auction, which is the Foundation’s largest fundraiser.
“This was our silver anniversary,” said Coffey. “It is quite an accomplishment to still be strong after 25 years. Our supporters are a special and passionate group.”
Chef Peter Levine of The Waterfront Seafood Grill in Seattle created the dinner menu for the event, which was prepared and served by students and instructors from the college’s Culinary Arts department.
Many local businesses supported the auction, including the presenting sponsor Comprehensive Wealth Management as well as The Boeing Co. and Premera Blue Cross. Table sponsors included Whidbey Island Bank, DLR Group, McDonald Miller, Bank of America, and Acura of Lynnwood.
