Moy to coach Triton Softball, Nieman to chair PE and Health

05/10/2011
Edmonds College head softball coach Jeannie Nieman has taken on new responsibilities as the PE and Health Department chair. In order to focus on this new role, she is stepping down as head softball coach.

“This is an incredible opportunity for Jeannie, one that will serve the department and her very well,” said interim athletic director Clay Blackwood. “The close connection between athletics and PE means that Jeannie will still be at hand to share information, background, and collaboration on the team as well as the facilities that are shared between the two departments.

Linsi Moy takes the helm for the Tritons softball team. Moy comes to the college with 10 years high school and collegiate coaching experience. She has been the assistant coach for University of North Carolina at Wilmington (DI) and Lewis & Clark College (DIII), as well as the head coach for Archbishop Murphy High School.

Moy, a former student-athlete at Edmonds CC, earned Northern Region Most Valuable Pitcher (1999) and Northeast Division 2nd Team All-Star (2000) prior to playing at the Division I level with the University of Maryland Baltimore County, while earning her bachelor's in psychology and master's in counseling psychology.

“We are grateful to Coach Nieman for her time, dedication and service to the softball program and wish her all the best in her new role. We are also eager to see the future of Edmonds CC softball with the addition of Coach Moy,” said Blackwood.

Coach Nieman will continue and finish out the 2011 season with the team, while coach Moy will begin on the recruiting trail for the 2011-2012 year.
