Governor appoints new members to community and technical college board
11/22/2011Larry Brown, legislative and political director for the Aerospace Machinists Union District Lodge 751, has worked in the aerospace industry for 33 years and the union for 12. He serves on the Governor-appointed Washington Council on Aerospace and represents labor as a member of the King County Airport Roundtable Advisory Board (Boeing Field). He served as a trustee at Green River Community College from 1998 to 2011 and as president of TACTC in 2005-06. Brown has also served on the Governor’s Task Force for Unemployment Insurance and serves on the labor caucus for Labor and Industries Workers Comp Advisory Committee. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the National Labor College in Maryland. Anne Fennessy, partner of Cocker Fennessy public affairs and consulting, served as communications director to Washington State Governor Mike Lowry. She has extensive experience in public affairs, government and media relations, public policy analysis, community organizing and stakeholder involvement. She serves as a Bullitt Foundation trustee, on the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce executive committee, and on the Downtown Seattle Association board, among others. Fennessy earned a bachelor of science in sociology and social work from Iowa State University and attended the University of Washington Graduate School of Social Work. Dr. Wayne J. Martin, environmental scientist and project management office director at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, was a trustee at Columbia Basin College (CBC) from 2000 to 2010, were he served on the Student Achievement Initiative taskforce and on the Board of Directors for the Trustees Association for Community and Technical Colleges (TACTC). He was honored as Trustee of the Year 2010 by TACTC for his service to CBC, higher education, and the state.
