Volunteers needed for Celebration of Food Festival at Lynnwood Convention Center May 17

Celebration of food festivalWant to provide a hand? Food Revolution Snohomish County is looking for volunteers to help at the Celebration of Food Festival.

The festival, co-sponsored by Edmonds College, is a free, family event where participants can learn how to grow, purchase and prepare wholesome, local food.

The festival will be held 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Sun., May 17, at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW, Lynnwood.

Volunteers are needed for the set-up team, tear-down team, and to help with activities during the festival. Examples include vendor assistance, signage, hospitality, greeters, counters, information table, and clean up. Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Younger volunteers are welcome if accompanied by a parent.

"Our community and student volunteers get jazzed working this event due to its celebratory atmosphere and the fact that they are making a difference in our community,” said Chris Hudyma, festival coordinator. “It's invigorating supporting the movement for wholesome, local food! We encourage our volunteers to enjoy the event before or after their shift."  

New for 2015:

  • Crisp Creperie offers savory and sweet crepes and was featured on Season 5 of "Eat Street" on the Food Network, 2013 and 2014 Readers Choice best food truck by Seattle Magazine, and top 13 must have food truck dishes by Eater.com;
  • Larger hands-on kids' food and kitchen skills station sponsored by Whole Foods;
  • Presentations on topics ranging from “Food Allergies/Sensitivities” to “Anti-Inflammatory Meals and Making Herbal Gifts.”
