Edmonds CC to host political forum Oct. 10, civil discourse panel Oct. 17

Candidates for the City of Lynnwood mayor and council positions will appear at a political forum from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Edmonds Community College. The college will also host a panel discussion on “Civil Discourse for Civic Engagement” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Both events are free and open to the public and will be held in the college’s Black Box Theatre in Mukilteo Hall, 20310 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood.

The forum will be moderated by Jon Bauer, The Daily Herald’s editorial editor. Each candidate, after giving a brief introduction, will have an opportunity to address issues affecting the City of Lynnwood. The audience will also be given time to ask the candidates questions.

The general election is Nov. 7.

The panel discussion will serve as a community introduction to the value of civil discourse for civic engagement to promote our common welfare and to develop avenues of respect for varied views.

The panel will be moderated by Bob Drewel, former county executive of Snohomish County and former executive director of the Puget Sound Regional Council.

The events are sponsored by Edmonds CC in partnership with Sno-Isle Libraries, the NAACP, the League of Women Voters of Snohomish County, and the American Association of University Women.
