At Edmonds College, we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant, connected, and technologically empowered community through the launch of our groundbreaking Community Connections program. Our mission is to explore emerging technologies and enhance AI and data science literacy by curating engaging speakers and hosting free community events to bridge knowledge gaps, inspire lifelong learning, and foster a more informed and connected community.

Speaker Series

The Community Connections Speaker Series is a dynamic initiative aimed at bringing knowledge, inspiration, and innovation directly to all members of the community at no cost where ideas take flight. Here's why you should mark your calendars:

AI for Everyone - April 26, 2024, 2-5 p.m.

Have you ever wondered how artificial Intelligence (AI) is shaping our world? Are you curious about its potential impact on your life and career? Edmonds College will once again host "AI for Everyone" day, a FREE community event that demystifies AI and makes it accessible to EVERYONE, regardless of background or expertise. We hope to see you on campus for this free event.

The event will include:

  • Interactive Workshops: Engage in hands-on activities that showcase AI applications in everyday life. Titles include: The AI Comedy Club, Ethics and AI: A Citizen's Guide, Basics and Beyond: A Hands-on Introduction Guide, The AI Sandbox: Guided Exploration.
  • Expert Talks: Learn from passionate AI enthusiasts and Edmonds College faculty
    about the exciting possibilities and ethical considerations of AI.
  • Live Demonstrations: Practice using common AI tools and apps with facilitators
    who can answer your questions. No AI experience is needed!
  • Q&A Session: Get your burning AI questions answered by experienced educators.
  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with like-minded community members, students, and professionals passionate about AI.
  • The EC Flyers club will be on-site, sharing information and giving exciting demonstrations throughout the day.

  • 2-2:40 p.m.: AI Basics: Mastering the Art of the Perfect Prompt
    Unlock the secrets of AI and learn how to wield its power with the finesse of a master. HZL 209
  • 2:45-3:25 p.m.: The Case for Robot Friendship
    Prepare to be amazed as we delve into the world of human-robot relationships and the endless possibilities they hold. HZL 210
  •  3:30-4:10 p.m.: Keeping It Real: Deep Fakes and AI
    Uncover the truth behind the digital curtain as we explore the thrilling world of deep fakes and AI-generated content. HZL 210
  • 4:15-5 p.m.: The AI Comedy Club: Where Machines Make Us Laugh
    Get ready to ROFL as we showcase the hilarious side of AI and its knack for comedy gold! HZL 209
  • 2-4:45 p.m.: Our AI sandbox will be buzzing with activity, featuring guided facilitators ready to help you dive into the world of common AI tools. HZL 206

AI: Journey into the Future of Biotechnology

Wed., Feb. 7, 2024, 1:30–3 p.m. | Black Box Theatre

Dr. Semih Tareen, a distinguished researcher and former director at Sana Biotechnology, provided an enlightening lecture on advancements in biotechnology. Dr. Tareen has over a decade of experience leading groundbreaking research in cell and gene therapies.
