Attend the Between the Lines release party 4-6 p.m., Tues., Feb. 17 in the new Triton Student Center. Meet the writers and artists featured in the 2008 issue of the Edmonds College arts and literary journal.

Listen to readings of works from the magazine and enjoy light refreshments. Current Edmonds College students are entitled to one free copy of this year's issue. Free copies of back issues also will be available.

At Edmonds CC, emerging writers enjoy opportunities each quarter to interact with published authors and to polish and share their own poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. In addition to the literary journal and regularly offered English classes in creative writing and literature, the college provides a number of free short writing workshops and author events open to the community.

Since 2002, the college’s Convergence Writers Series has hosted more than 30 free literary readings, most recently featuring Washington state Poet Laureate Samuel Green. Other readers have included fiction writers Stephanie Kallos, Karen Fisher, and Ann Pancake; poets Colleen McElroy, Clemens Starck, and Jim Bertolino; and nonfiction authors Robert Michael Pyle, David Shields, and William Dietrich.

At the latest writing workshop in October, Skye Moody, author of 10 books of fiction and nonfiction, led a two-hour class on “The Short-Short Story” and encouraged participants to revise their short-short stories and submit them to an anthology she is editing.
