College art gallery features work by alumnus Timothy Cross

04/15/2010

Heavily inspired by the culture and landscapes of Seattle, Northwest artist Timothy Cross brings his drawings to the Edmonds College art gallery in the exhibit “La La Land.” Cross’ works will be on exhibit through June 14. Cross, who also works in printmaking, clay, found objects, and painting, developed his interest in art at Edmonds CC.

From Edmonds CC, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the Evergreen State College in 1995 and a Master of Fine Arts from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago in 2003. A reception for the exhibit, and a featured lecture by the artist, will be 5-7:30 p.m., Wed., May 19 in the art gallery, located in the library on the third floor of Lynnwood Hall.

On the same day as the reception, the college will also hold an open house for its newly renovated studio space in Meadowdale Hall. The 27,640 square-foot building constructed in 1978 underwent a renovation last year and reopened this spring. The open house, with tours of the new space for art, photography, and visual communications classes, will be 4-7 p.m., Wed., May 19, Meadowdale Hall.

The Edmonds College art gallery hours are 7:30 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday-Thursday; 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Friday and noon-5 p.m., weekends. For directions to Edmonds College, 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood, go to edmonds.edu/campus.
