The Edmonds CC Foundation will host its annual 5K Walk and Run on Saturday, Oct. 28.

The Edmonds Community College Foundation will hold its 5K Walk and Run on Saturday, Oct. 28, to promote healthy living within our community while raising funds for student success.

Join in this community event to help the Edmonds CC Foundation fund student scholarships, emergency assistance funds, and innovation grants.

“Last year, our campus and the community came together for the Foundation’s inaugural 5K Walk and Run, and we raised $42,300 in funding to keep Edmonds CC students in class and on track with their higher education goals when faced with financial challenges,” said Foundation Executive Director Brad Thomas.

“Edmonds CC students are the future leaders of our community, and we invite you to join us this year in raising $50,000 toward their success and that of our community.”

Walkers and runners of every level are encouraged to participate. Individual and team rates are available.

Event registration is now open. Onsite registration begins at 8 a.m. Runners will start at 9 a.m. followed by walkers at 9:05 a.m.

Individuals can register for $35 from now to the day of the event. Teams are encouraged, and can register for $500 by Oct. 14. Team registrations include up to 10 walkers and/or runners, a team photo, prizes, and more. Participants are guaranteed to receive a free T-shirt if registered by Oct. 14.

The race, featuring chip timing and live results, will begin in the Edmonds CC campus courtyard, wrap around the Lynnwood Municipal Golf Course trail, and back through campus.

“This event not only gives our walkers and runners a great 5K experience, it allows participants, who might not otherwise come to campus, to experience this jewel in the crown of our state’s community college system,” said Chair and Foundation board member Adam Cornell.

Participants will be treated to live music, tasty treats, special student vignettes throughout the course, a costume contest, and an after party beginning at 9:30 a.m. KING 5 Morning News anchor Jake Whittenberg will be the emcee.

This year’s title sponsor is Vivacity, a Mountlake Terrace organizational wellbeing and productivity consulting company.

“At Vivacity, there’s a serious passion for promoting healthy habits and lifestyles, especially within our own community,” said Camarin Mass, a Vivacity product lead. “What makes the Edmonds CC Foundation’s 5K Walk and Run so special is that we’re coming together to raise money that will help Edmonds CC students succeed in their academic, personal, and professional pursuits.”

Other event sponsors include: Community Transit, The Daily Herald, Harbor Square Athletic Club, Carter Subaru, ServPro of Edmonds, The Everett Clinic, Exceptional Properties, Lynnwood Honda, and the Cheesemonger’s Table.
