Two Week Option: IT Software Camp Only

IT Summer School at School of Software Engineering, Beijing Jiaotong University combines cutting-edge technologies and experiencing Chinese culture. The IT Software Camp is guided by experts from famous IT companies.

You will work in small teams to design a creative mobile application for Android from scratch and learn how to install it on devices. Classes are held every morning, from Monday through Friday, with cultural workshops two afternoons per week. 

 

LOCATION

You will live and study in the beautiful city of Beijing, China with its rich culture heritage. During your stay you will visit sites such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, The Summer Palace, and Temple of Heaven, while studying at Beijing Jiaotong University. This is a very unique opportunity to take a software development camp while exploring the ancient yet burgeoning city of Beijing.

Please note that students that have been sanctioned by the college are disqualified from applying to or participating in an Edmonds College study abroad program.

This program does not include courses for credit. You will be creating an app with an international group of students from the beginning stages to app completion.

This program is not run in a traditional classroom style. There will be professors organizing each day and leading your progress, but you will be left to work with your group on creating your app for the most part. Faculty will be local staff and faculty in Beijing.

You are more than welcome to explore Beijing and surrounding areas while you are in the program, or to stay after the program is finished to explore Asia.

Housing

You will live in the on-site dormitories with other international students, with a standard room for 2 persons and a private bathroom.  From it you can branch out to the city within walking distance to the subway station. Different meals are available on campus in the student "canteens" or cafeterias, and students are encouraged to venture out from campus to try different ethnic foods of China, Halal, and other Asian food.

Dormitory: approx ~ $12/ day
Meals: On campus approx ~ $8/ day (3 meals)
Sites tour entrance ticket fees: approx ~ $82/4 weeks

Based on enrollment of up to 14 participants, the fee per person will be the above, plus airfare and travel insurance (approx $1.50/day)

NOTE: You are responsible for obtaining a valid visa and health insurance prior to your arrival in China.
