Celebrating 35 Years of the American Disability Act (ADA)
Saturday, July 26, marked the 35th anniversary of the American Disability Act (ADA),
a landmark piece of civil rights legislation that addresses discrimination based on
disability and protects the rights of people with disabilities across the United States.
The ADA law was signed on July 26, 1990. The ADA has empowered millions and continues
to ensure access, opportunity, and inclusion in education, employment, public services,
and beyond.
To mark this milestone, the ADA National Network has created the ADA Anniversary Toolkit with resources for individuals, organizations, and communities to celebrate and reflect.
The toolkit includes:
- Event listings and archived recordings
- Social media graphics and materials
- Reflections from disability rights leaders
- Educational resources, timelines, and training opportunities
Please take time to explore the “ADA Anniversary Toolkit”.
We are committed to equal access and the civil rights of people with disabilities.
