Featured in the news: tritons making waves
Hey Tritons!
Did you know that this week alone, one of your fellow students Katelyn Thomas, culinary alum James Huffman, and the culinary department that runs the college cafe were all featured in the news? It’s true!
Katelyn, your very own community relations officer in student government and a Running Start student, was featured in an article in The Seattle Times this week!
The article discusses everything our Running Start program has to offer, including the potential savings it can provide, and highlights what Katelyn has achieved during her time here at Edmonds. Katelyn’s mom estimates that Running Start (which is free, by the way) has saved their family at least $20,000. At commencement in just a few weeks, Katelyn will have both her high school diploma and an associate degree.
Katelyn has set herself up spectacularly to get her master's degree in architecture by the time she is 21 years old. Way to go, Katelyn!
Next up, another Seattle Times Feature!
One of Seattle’s most acclaimed restaurants, Canlis, has named its newest executive chef, our very own culinary department alumnus, James Huffman!
In Canlis’ 75-year history, this is the first time they have hired a head chef with local ties. In the Seattle Times article, Huffman was quoted as saying, “I feel a little bit like the hometown kid playing quarterback for the Seahawks.”
Huffman began his career as a server at Lake Forest Bar and Grill and has since advanced to various positions at several restaurants in the Seattle area. He made it to Canlis for the first time nine years ago. Now, he’s the boss.
Read more about Huffman’s journey here.
Hungry to know more about our esteemed culinary department?
Our College Cafe’s dining experience was just featured in the Everett Herald with high praise.
The author experienced the cafe’s four-course meal for only $14.95 and also had a few treats from the Pastry Corner. He raved about the bargain prices and the delicious food he experienced. The College Cafe is open three days a week while classes are in session. The last meal service is Thursday, June 5, until reopening during fall quarter in September.
Check out the review of one reporter’s experience in our College Cafe, and maybe you’ll be inspired to stop by The College Cafe, or even enroll in our Culinary Department.
