Brenno Kenji
Originally from Brazil, Brenno likes to think he has lived many lives in one, each experience enriching—and being enriched by—the others. With a Ph.D. in Literature from UC Berkeley and having taught for many years at the college level, he draws from his diverse background to create a teaching style that is both intellectually rigorous and creatively open-ended.
His artistic training includes mentorships with artists such as Sunny Apinchapong-Yang, Mian Situ, Sean Cheetham, Glenn Vilppu, and Steve Huston.
He has extensive teaching experience, having taught literature and philosophy at the University of Southern California, as well as drawing, painting, and art theory at Loyola Marymount University and Gage Academy of Art in Seattle. Brenno’s teaching philosophy emphasizes a dynamic balance between analytical understanding and creative intuition, fostering an environment where students can build technical skill and develop a distinctive artistic voice rooted in both structure and spontaneity.
