Enrolling in Biology 201

Course Description

BIOL 201     Principles of Biology (5.5 Credits)
Introduction to molecular and cellular biology with emphasis on cellular structure and function energetics genetics and evolution. Four hours lecture and one 3-hour lab weekly. A course for life science majors nursing and pre-professional students.
Prerequisite: ENGL 100 MATH 090 and CHEM 101 or 131 or equivalent each with grade of 2.0 or higher. If you have satisfied the prerequisites you can obtain an entry code (required for registration) from the Biology Department. Enrollment in BIOL 155 is highly recommended.

In order to ensure student success in the 200-level biology classes, students may enroll in Biology 201 only after successful completion of the prerequisites. Please contact Jenny McFarland (jmcfarla@edmonds.edu) (Fall and Winter) or Hans Landel (hlandel@edmonds.edu) (Winter quarter only) for entry codes that will allow you to register for this class.

You will be asked how you have completed the prerequisites (e.g., Chem 101 or Chem 131) and what grades you received in the prerequisite courses (2.0 or better). If you have not taken the prerequisites at Edmonds College, you will be expected to provide evidence of successful completion of these courses at the beginning of the quarter (please have a unofficial record your grades or transcripts). We will need your name and student ID number (and we would also like to know you major) before we can give you the entry codes.
