Explore your new campus and meet new students, current students, and Edmonds College staff!

For a successful orientation, here are some tips:

• Get on a Campus Tour! Know where your first class is going to be.
• Get your EdPass. All students are required to carry their student ID on campus at all times. The EdPass gives you access to a variety of services, conveniences and opportunities on campus, and you can use it as a bus pass as well!
• Attend Housing Orientation! A simple presentation of the rules and policies of the Res Halls. New residents will be able to meet some  RAs as well as office staff such as our Coordinator of Residential Education or our Financial Coordinator. Attendance is mandatory for all new residents.
• Attend Housing and campus events! Every orientation week, Housing holds a variety of fun events where residents can meet their new neighbors and start classes with confidence. Fall orientation is our biggest celebration as we hold an event almost every day!

At the beginning of each quarter, the Residents Assistants on each floor will organize a floor meeting for all residents to be able to meet their neighbors, learn about the Res Halls expectations for the year. 
This is a great opportunity to get to know your floor's RAs! 
The floor meeting is mandatory for all new residents.

Moving-in:

• Grab your information folder: upon arrival, you will be given a folder containing key information such as policy reminders, WiFi information, local resources and more!
• Make sure your lease is signed.
• Join our WhatsApp community chats: we post important information about quarterly deadlines as well as flyers for our event!
• Receive your keys and meet your RA: you will get a tour of your building and apartment by a Resident Assistant.
• Settle in and meet your roommates!

Moving-out:

• Make sure your bedroom will be completely empty and clean when you move out.
• The common areas must also be completely empty and clean (work with your roommates) of any of your personal belongings (including trash, personal furniture, empty boxes, and food). This includes: bathrooms, living room, kitchen, and closets. It is the responsibility of everyone in the apartment to help with this in some manner.
• Return your keys to the Housing Office or to the RA on-call.
• Change your address with the US Post Office.

Living With Roommates can be both exciting and challenging, especially if it's your first time having a roommate outside of your family. Here are some key tips that you can follow:

• Study Schedule – Communicate your preferred study environment (quiet or background noise) and agree on study hours.
• Be Honest – Address small issues early to prevent bigger conflicts.
• Communicate Regularly – Discuss concerns openly and seek RA support if needed.
• Visitors & Guests – Set clear guidelines on visits and overnight guests.
• Chore Division – Share cleaning responsibilities to avoid tension.
• Absences – Inform roommates if you’ll be away for extended periods.
• Build Friendships – Get to know your roommates and find common interests.
• Guidelines on Sharing – Set boundaries on sharing food and borrowing personal items.
• Expand Your Social Circle – Engage in activities outside of your room.
• Apartment Agreement – Get a written agreement  when a new roommate moves in, in order to outline expectations and responsibilities. Check out Your RA can assist with this process.

Residence hall accommodations are available in Rainier Place, which is closest to campus if you are a student with disabilities. Accessible housing space is limited, and rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis based on when the completed application fees are received.

It is your responsibility to register with the Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) Office if special accommodations are needed when applying for housing. We encourage you to apply early and to notify the Housing and Residence Life Office of special needs when submitting your application. The Housing and Residence Life Office will respond to requests for appropriate and reasonable housing accommodations in a timely manner.

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a service animal is defined as any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.

You must register with the Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) Office if special accommodations are needed when applying for housing. You are encouraged to apply early and to notify the Housing and Residence Life Office of special needs when the application for housing is made.

If you are a domestic or international Edmonds College and CWU-Lynnwood student, you may be eligible to apply to work for Housing and Residence Life. Employment may also be open to you if you are an international student on OPT  (Optional Practical Training) status. The most common student positions are either Resident Assistant or International Mentor. We occasionally hire part-time hourly employees, such as a front desk and office assistants.
