Takeoff for Success Scholars

The Takeoff for Success Scholars (TSS) program empowers students to navigate the complexities of higher education with confidence. We provide a robust support network designed to help you achieve your academic goals—whether you are transferring to a four-year university or launching your career.

We are dedicated to enhancing educational outcomes for all students, with a specialized focus on men of color and first-generation students. By building bridges to access and opportunity, we help scholars complete their degrees and transition into the workforce.

Our Comprehensive Support Includes:

  • Personalized Mentoring: Cultivate trusting relationships with staff and professionals.
  • Success Navigation: Work one-on-one with a Student Success Navigator to stay on track.
  • Academic Guidance: Build a clear roadmap with dedicated academic advising.
  • Peer Engagement & Mentoring: Connect with a community of scholars through coordinated activities.
  • Career Pathway Support: Access tools for resume building, networking, and career exploration.

Participant Commitments

To maintain your status as a Takeoff for Success Scholar, students must be enrolled in a certificate or degree program and commit to the following:

  • (A)cademic Planning: Meet with your academic advisor quarterly to complete and update your Academic Plan.
  • (C)onduct: Adhere to all college rules and policies.
  • (C)onnection: Participate in one TSS meeting and one check-in with your Navigator each quarter.
  • (E)ngagement: Attend at least one campus activity and one TSS-specific event per quarter (workshops, guest speakers, etc.)
