A restorative aide is a certified nurse assistant (CNA) who provides restorative or rehabilitation care and services to patients based on individual care plans. A restorative aide must be certified as a nursing aide and complete a rehabilitation/restorative aide course.
The restorative aide maintains notes about restorative therapy and reports on the daily activities of the patient, such as dressing, feeding, and personal hygiene. The aide documents resident participation in response services and records a schedule of patient services.
Help patients with:
- ambulation, gait training, and range of motion;
- improving or maintaining mobility and independence;
- balancing and reaching;
- proper wheelchair use and positioning of leg extenders and footrests;
- body alignment in beds, chairs, and wheelchairs; and
- proper placement of catheters and drainage bags.
