Now hiring tutors who are excited about in-person tutoring for Winter 2024!
In-Person Hours
Fall Quarter: Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
If you think you would enjoy breaking down complex issues into smaller steps, connecting with new people, and helping others as a part of a supportive, academic-minded environment, then being a tutor is a great option for you! You will be working both with your fellow students as a tutor and with other students as your tutor coworkers, backing each other up and providing support.
Subjects We Currently Need Tutors For
We always accept applications year-round for the following subjects, though we tend to do much of our hiring before Fall quarter begins every year: math, writing, chemistry, biology, accounting, statistics, BSTEC, CIS, computer science, physics, and more.
At the moment, for Winter 2024, we are looking in particular for tutors who can help with the following subjects:
- ENGL 101 and 102
- Accounting - 101, 201, 202, 203, QuickBooks (Acct 216)
- BSTEC 129, 130, 224 (MS Word, Excel, Access)
- Chemistry
- Computer Science
- Math - all courses (looking for tutors that can support 47-152, 146, 140, 148)
- Physics
To qualify as a tutor in our program, you must:
- Have a 3.6 in the subject(s) to be tutored,
- Be an Edmonds College student enrolled in at least 6 units or a graduate,
- Interview with the Learning Support Center Director
- Have a Social Security Number or be eligible to get one.
- (Optional and helpful, but not mandatory: Have an instructor make a brief recommendation for each subject you wish to tutor.)

Click below to access our tutor application on Google Docs. You can download or make a copy of the Google Doc (when you have the Doc opened, click on File and then either Download or Make a Copy) so that you can fill it out and email it to us to apply for a position.
Once you have filled out your application, please email it to tutoring@edmonds.edu and make sure to say that you are submitting a tutor application in your subject line.

What to Expect After You Apply
We hire on a rolling basis, which means that while we are always accepting applications, we may not always be actively hiring new tutors. Whether we reach out to you immediately after receiving your application or not will depend on our current staffing needs and the subjects you have said you can tutor.
Please do not expect to hear back right away. If we are looking to hire and your application fits some of our needed subjects, then you may receive an email inviting you to an interview. If you do not receive an email, this usually means we are keeping your application on file for later reference when we are hiring more tutors.
Please be patient, as this process can take some time for us to sort out, especially toward the beginnings and endings of quarters as we assess our schedule and staffing needs.
