I was born and raised in Maine and moved to Seattle in 2007. In addition to teaching
at Edmonds, I also teach poetry at the Hugo House in Seattle and the UW-Robinson Center
for Young Scholars. I have published two books of poetry, and I am a Senior Editor
at the literary journal Poetry Northwest. In my writing classes, I like to have my
students explore their own interests, while also incorporating some of my own, such
as nature, environmental writing, and visual art.
