In addition to teaching, I enjoy camping, hiking, cooking, reading, writing, listening
to music, and playing and watching sports. I also work as a freelance music journalist
and have interviewed numerous nationally touring bands and musicians. I enjoy working
with beginning writers because I love seeing their development as the quarter progresses.
"Coaching" students to discover their unique writing voices and find confidence in
their written arguments and expressions is one of many things I love about teaching.
I also value the classroom as a space for the open exchange of ideas, and I strive
to help students grow as both critical and creative thinkers and writers.
I’m the author of three full-length poetry books: Animal Histories (2017), PULP: A
Manifesto (2018), and Ventric(L)e (2023), all from Unsolicited Press.
