Addiction Studies

The Addiction Studies program is based on a holistic behavioral-health care approach, and is accredited through the National Addiction Studies Accreditation Commission. The program provides students with instruction from industry leading instructors and teaches the necessary skills for working in the recovery field. Graduates of the Edmonds College Addiction Studies program are highly sought by employers from a variety of disciplines. Students completing the program satisfy the educational requirements for earning a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) certification with the Washington State Department of Health.

The AAS-T is designed for students who need to complete their associate’s degree, their SUDP coursework, and who eventually intend to transfer to a Bachelors of Applied Science program.

The ATA is designed for students who need to complete their associate’s degree, their SUDP coursework, and who intend to enter the workforce immediately.

Certificate Credits Time to Complete Average Cost*
Certificate Addiction Studies 76 1.5 years $7,163

The Addiction Studies Certificate is designed for students who have already earned an associate’s degree (or higher) in Human Services (or a related field) and need to complete their SUDP specific coursework.

The Alternative Training Option is designed to provide an accelerated academic route to earning an SUDP for students already licensed through DOH in certain specified professions.
