Guide to Emergency Preparedness: Chemical Spill Or Attack

What To Do Inside

  1. If you are inside where a spill has occurred, protect yourself and leave the building.
  2. If gas or vapors have entered the building, take shallow breaths through a cloth or towel.
  3. Notify Campus Safety and Security at 425.754.0154.
  4. Provide as much information as possible when emergency responders arrive.
  5. Tell emergency responders if you have been exposed to chemicals.

What To Do Outside

  1. Protect yourself by evacuating to a safe location that is uphill and upwind.
  2. Notify Campus Safety and Security at 425.754.0154.
  3. Stop others from entering an unsafe area, if possible.
  4. Provide as much information as possible when emergency responders arrive.
  5. Tell emergency responders if you have been exposed to chemicals.

What Not To Do

  1. Do not try to clean up a spill.
  2. Do not touch or step in spilled materials.
  3. Avoid contact with others if you or they have been exposed to chemicals.
  4. Do not reenter an area or building until notified to do so by emergency responders.
