Guide to Emergency Preparedness: Volcanic Eruption

In situations where significant volcanic ash is falling, the college will close.  You will receive a Triton Alert advising of the closure. 

What To Do With Advance Warning

1. Stay calm and encourage others to do so.
2. If you cannot reach a safe location, follow Shelter-in-Place procedures and the directions of any emergency responders.

What To Do With Little or No Warning

1. Stay inside until emergency responders tell you it is safe to go outside (see Shelter-in-Place).
2. Hold a moist cloth over your face to assist in breathing.
3. Close all doors and windows.
4. Call 911 if there is a medical emergency.
5. Cover electronic equipment to protect it from damage.
