GED® Testing Information

Overview:

The GED test consists of four subject areas: Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reasoning Through Language Arts. Testing is available in-person at local community colleges or online.

Requirements and Eligibility

To schedule an exam, candidates must:

  • Be a Washington resident.
  • Be 19 years of age or older.
  • Create an account and schedule exams through the Official GED Website.
  • Pay the testing fee ($36 per test).
  • Provide a valid government-issued photo ID.

Washington Residency Verification

Candidates must provide proof of identity and residency through one of the following two options:

Option 1:

  • Provide a valid government-issued ID that includes your current Washington address (e.g., a WA driver's license or state ID).

Option 2:

  • Provide a valid government-issued ID without a WA address (e.g., a passport or out-of-state license) AND Provide one document proving WA residency. Acceptable documents include:
    • Utility bill or bank statement.
    • Signed lease agreement.
    • Tax record or voter registration form.
    • Vehicle registration.

In-Person Testing at Edmonds College

  • Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays (Hours are subject to change).
  • Check-in: Please arrive at Testing and Assessment Services at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time to complete the admissions process and ensure your exam begins on schedule.

How to Request Accommodations

To receive accommodations, you must submit a formal request through your GED.com account.

  1. Prepare Documentation: You must include medical documentation and/or evaluations of your condition(s).
  2. Review Guidelines: Use the official Documentation and Evaluation Guidelines to learn exactly what documents to submit with your request.
  3. Submit via GED.com: Log in to your profile to upload your documents and complete the application.
