Financial Aid (FAFSA/WASFA):

All Worker Retraining students are required to complete a FAFSA/WASFA for 2023-2024, which is valid for summer quarter 2023 through spring quarter 2024.  For information on the status of your application,  please check your ctcLink. You are also required to complete a Program Confirmation Form.  This form will be on your ctc Link account once your FAFSA/WASFA has been uploaded to the Financial Aid Office.

After your FAFSA/WASFA is complete and uploaded to the Financial Aid Office, you will want to check your ctcLink account to see what additional documents are needed.

It will soon be time to complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA/WASFA.  Please find more information on upcoming changes for the 2024-2024 school year here

This application is valid for summer quarter 2024 through spring quarter 2025.

Financial Aid Income Recalculation:

If your 2023 income is, or will be, less than the 2021 income reported on your 2023-2024 FAFSA/WASFA you could be eligible for an income recalculation. You will find the form here on the financial aid website. We use the new information to recalculate your eligibility for financial aid.

In many cases Worker Retraining students become eligible for financial aid grants. Before we process a recalculation, you must have a completed financial aid file.  In many cases students who were not originally eligible for regular financial aid become eligible after completing the Income Recalculation process here.

Worker Retraining Tuition Assistance:

Worker Retraining tuition and book assistance will be available for your first quarter.  Future funding is on a case by case basis.  In some cases, funding is available for a second quarter.

To be considered for the Worker Retraining grant you must have completed a FAFSA/WASFA for 2023-2024 and soon the 2024-2025.

You also must be following your Academic Plan, which is the quarter-by-quarter listing of the classes needed for your degree or certificate. Your Academic Plan was created before you started your program of study and you should have a copy for your personal records.

Employment Security Information:

If you are currently collecting unemployment benefits you have probably completed the CAT/TB application for approval to attend training and potentially additional weeks of unemployment benefits.  Please note that it can take up to 12 weeks to process.  During this time, you need to maintain a full-time and active job search.  If you have any questions, please contact Becky Schrader | rebecca.schrader@esd.wa.gov.
